Richard F. Henderson, 77

OSWEGO, NY – Richard F. Henderson (R. Frederick), 77, resident of Oswego, passed away Wednesday July 15, 2015, at University Hospital in Syracuse, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Fred and Rose (Skorupski) Henderson.

He was educated and graduated local schools.

Dick was an ironworker employed by Local 60 of Syracuse and worked various job throughout Oswego County.

He was U.S Army veteran serving with the 82 Airborne Paratroopers.

He was a member of the Oswego Elks Lodge 271.

He was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed his teams the Cleveland Browns and the New York Mets.

He was also a NASCAR fan and a follower of Dale Earnhardt.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Marian Snyder Henderson; children: Beth (Larry) Gigon, Lynne Bunce, Lori Henderson and Bob (Meg) Henderson; step-daughter, Amy VanBuren; and step-son, James VanBuren all of Oswego; his grandchildren: Lindsay, Vanessa, Ryan, Brandon, Jennifer, Dick, Eric, Cody, Olivia and Ava; and great-grandchildren: Maddy, Lyla and Everett; and many cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Karen L. Henderson; brother, Bob Henderson; and sister, Irene Henderson.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, July 20, at St Mary’s Church, 103 W. Seventh St., Oswego.

Calling hours will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego. missing or outdated ad config

    You are in my thoughts and prayers. Dick was a truly wonderful soul who lived life with laughter and the best sense of humor. He was a great friend who always had a kind word. I am sure he and Charlotte, who loved him dearly, are doing some catching up in heaven. God bless you Marian, he was blessed to have you.

  2. Thinking this AM that today is Dicks birthday and then seeing this made my heart sink. I am so sorry for the family. He was a good friend for 72 years. will miss him.

    Sorry to hear about Dickey.You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Dickey was a great guy. I probably didn’t know Dick as long as most people, but the time I did we had some good times on different jobs.He would help anybody that needed help. He always had you laughing. Again so sorry for your loss.
