Robert J. “Hoter” Schaffer, 66, a resident of West Eighth St. Oswego, passed away, Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 at Sunrise Nursing Home.

Born in Oswego he was the son of the late Harold and Mary Jane (Nelson) Schaffer.

Hotter was employed as a Farm Implement Salesman with the Tisco Corporation in Lyman, Nebraska and previously for Marine Midland Bank.

He was a member of the Oswego Hot Stove Association and the Oswego Softball Hall of Fame which he helped organize.

Hotter was a N.Y.S certified High School football official and he coached the Elks little league baseball team for 26 years.

He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.

Surviving is four sons, Robert Michael Schaffer of Las Vegas; S. Alan Schaffer of Las Vegas; Craig Schaffer of Las Vegas and Ryan J. Schaffer of Baldwinsville; one step daughter, Kristen (Paul) Czerow of Oswego; one step son, Bradley Shannon of Oswego; two brothers, Harold “Harry” (Pilly) Schaffer of Valdosta, Ga; Thomas “Bodie” (Teresa) Schaffer of Oswego; one sister, Susan (Larry) Narolis of New Bern, N.Carolina; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Merritt Czerow.

Funeral services will be held 9a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Oswego.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
