OSWEGO, NY – Shirley A. Golas, 75, a resident of Oswego, passed away peacefully with the Lord at her side, Thursday October 30, 2014, at St. Luke Health Services.
Born in Oswego on July 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Frances Helen (Clark) Murray.
Shirley married Joseph Golas September 14, 1958, and the couple’s union lasted for 53 years.
She was a cook and housekeeper for the family for more than 35 years. She enjoyed baking for the family.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Kuru, of Herkimer, NY; four sons, Kevin (Lynne) Golas of Selkirk, NY; Daniel (Sandy LaPlante) Golas of Ravena, NY; Scott Golas of Schenectady, NY and Jason Golas of Sonyea, NY; two sisters, Barbara Rowan and Valerie O’Neil both of Oswego; four grandchildren, Justin Kibbe, Chad Golas, Nickeala Sawyer and Jenna Golas; step grandchildren, Heather and Ryan Manikas and Kenny Burke; step great-grandson, Cameron Manikas; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Golas (2010); and a brother, George Murray (1957).
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held 11a.m. Monday, November 3, at St. Stephen’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
