OSWEGO, NY – Shirlie J. McCarthy, 60, a resident of the Engles Road in the Town of Oswego, passed away Tuesday Sept. 25, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.
Mrs. McCarthy was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Bessie (LeBlanc) Scharf.
She was a life resident.
She was formerly employed as a security guard at the FitzPatrick nuclear plant in the town of Scriba.
Mrs. McCarthy loved to play cards, and was an enthusiastic bingo player.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy McCarthy Sr. of Oswego; a son, Timothy (Faith) McCarthy Jr. of Oswego; a daughter, Michele (Michael) Waldron of Oswego; two brothers, Donald Scharf and Richard Scharf, both of Oswego; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorialmMass will be held at noon Oct. 6 in St. Peter’s Church on East Seventh Street in Oswego.
There will be no calling hours.
