OSWEGO, NY – Sylvia H. Pekarek, 59, a resident of Minetto, passed away on Saturday January 18, 2014, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born in Oak Park, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late George and Ursula (Schmidt) Ruvarac.
She enjoyed sewing, music and playing the violin.
She was involved in website design and studied religion.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Pekarek; a daughter, Rachel Pekarek of Minetto; four sons, Robert G. (Monica) Pekarek of Scriba, Joseph Pekarek of Minetto, Jeremy (Kassidy) Pekarek of Oswego and Ryan Pekarek of Minetto; three brothers, Nicholas Ruvarac, Peter Ruvarac and Thomas (Barbara) Ruvarac; six sisters, Diana, Monika, Patty, Angie, Debbie and Heidi; a grandson, Julius Pekarek; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria; and a son, Nathanael Pekarek.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Minetto United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
