Wallace ‘Wally’ Tanner, 87

OSWEGO – Wallace “Wally” Tanner, 87, a resident of Mitchell Street, Oswego, passed away Sunday April 29, 2012, at his home.

Born in Erie, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Alice (Hess) Tanner.

He was an Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater.

He was a retired truck driver for Ohio Fast Freight.

Wally enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, camping, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Arlene (Petrie) Tanner; his son, Frederick (Amelia) Tanner of New Castle, Pa.; a stepson, Bruce Benway of Oswego; a step-daughter, Susan (Marvin) Boyles of Rochester; five grandsons; and one granddaughter.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Chuck, George and Ted Tanner and Alice Bartberger and Camilla Wrobel.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Nelson Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

  1. Arlene I am so sorry to read of Wally’s passing. I know it must be hard for you but he isnt far away. He is there at your side every day watching over you. I just want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at your time of sorrow. xxoox RIP Wally! you will be greatly missed.
