OSWEGO, NY – William G. Pittenger, 55, of Oswego, died Wednesday June 22, 2016, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Owen Pittenger and surviving mother, Elizabeth “Betty” (Dixon) Pittenger of Garner, N.C.
William worked as a chemistry specialist at Entergy for 33 years until he retired in January 2016.
He enjoyed camping, the “art” of fishing, and woodworking. He also loved helping others.
William is survived by his wife, Tammy (Murray) Pittenger; his daughters, Chelsea Pittenger of Fulton, NY and Rachel Pittenger of Oswego; his son, Adam Pittenger of Oswego; a brother, Robert Pittenger of Hemet, Calif.; sisters, Jeanette (David) Kratz of Camillus NY, Sandra (Nick) Christantelli of Cotopaxi, Colo., and Jeanine (Daniel) Petersen of Garner, NC.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Nelson Funeral Home.
Burial will be held at Rural Cemetery.
