OSWEGO, NY – William S. Izyk, 65, a resident of Oswego, passed away Thursday October, 18, 2012.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Edward B. and Maizie (Foley) Izyk.
William was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during Vietnam.
William retired in 2004 from the Maintenance Department at SUNY Oswego.
He loved listening to country western music and the outdoors, and loved and collected eagle memorabilia.
He was a member of the American Legion in Oswego, the local VFW, Hibernians and the Moose.
Surviving are his daughters, Jennifer (Ken) Izyk of Baldwinsville and Melanie Izyk of Syracuse; grandsons, Shawn and Conlin; loving companion, Diana Rathbun, and her children, Joe and Kristina (Lucas), and granddaughter, Rebecca; brothers, Edward (Joan) Izyk, Thomas (Cindy) Izyk; sisters, Elaine (William) Chillson and Frances (Joseph) Cernaro; the mother of his children, Sue Izyk; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael Izyk.
Burial will be private.
A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 27, at the American Legion, West Fourth and Bridge streets, Oswego, with a gathering to follow.
