
David R. Halstead, 82; of Baldwinsville, NY died Monday at Seneca Hill Manor, Volney after a long illness.
David was born in Fulton to the late Ervia and Nettie (Clark) Halstead. He has been a resident of Baldwinsville, NY for 35 years.
David was a United States Veteran having retired in 1972 after 26 years of service during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a paratrooper, medic and a guard of the Nazi War criminals during the Nuremberg Trials.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Cindy Halstead of Baldwinsville, NY; 7 children: James Halstead and Timothy Halstead both of OH, Shane George of Auburn, NY; Kimberly (Eric) Knapp of Memphis, NY, Tiffanie (Justin) Turner of Fulton, Darcy Kotary and David M. Halstead both of Baldwinsville, NY; 2 siblings: Clark E. (Ruth) Halstead, and Edward (Gloria) Halstead both of Fulton, 16 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
David was pre-deceased by his 1st wife Helena R. Halstead in 1986; and 2 daughters: Margery Stanford in 2007 and Connie Grebe in 2009, and 4 brothers.
Funeral Services will be conducted 10 AM Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, State Route 48, Fulton. Burial will be held in the spring at Fairdale Cemetery, Hannibal, NY. Calling hours will be held 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton.

Dave will be missed by all the many people whose lives he touched, including mine. He was a very nice man and a good friend. Prayers and thoughts for all his family & friends at this most difficult time.
