Eugene “Sonny” Huard

FULTON – Eugene “Sonny” Huard, 81, of Fulton passed away Saturday at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse after a short illness.

He was born in Fulton, New York, to the late Eugene and Cecile (Loiselle) Huard Sr. Sonny was a 1958 graduate of Fulton High School. He retired from Carrier Corp., Syracuse after 33 years of service. Then he became the superintendent of St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton for several years. Sonny was a former member of the Fulton Polish Home and he enjoyed gardening, camping and spending time in Florida.

He and his beloved wife of 59 years Jean Huard who pre-deceased him December 2018 loved to spend time together, travel and enjoyed sharing in their loving children and grandchildren’s lives.

Sonny was also pre-deceased by his siblings: Joyce McIntyre, and Francis Huard.

He is survived by his beloved family: 3 children: Jeffery (Sharon) Huard of Minoa, NY; Jill (Robert) Huard-Bruns of Oswego, NY; Julie (Kenneth) Banks of Lakewood, OH; 3 siblings: Claudette (Patrick) Smith of Fulton, Margo Huard and Marsha (Russell) Virginia both of Baldwinsville, NY; 8 grandchildren: Alexander, Eleanor, Christopher, Grace, Lucas, Allyson, Nathan, and Katie and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held privately in the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., with Deacon Nick Alvaro officiating. Burial will be held privately at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours will be conducted Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton.

Please note that face masks and hand sanitizing will be required. People will be invited in as others exit as we are still at 25% capacity to adhere to NYS mandates.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear of Mr. Huard’s passing. I enjoyed running into him at the store, polish home fish dinners, etc., he was always so friendly. My deepest condolences to his family.

  3. I’m so sorry for the loss of your dad. It was an honor to know him -I have so much respect for him as a friend to my dad and cousin , and it was he who made our new home possible to move into in Mexico as a new baby was arriving. We spent many nights working there and I learned so much from him . God bless you Sonny you are now reunited with your “Bride”. Tears are shed for those lost, but heaven has gained a great one.
