Jeffrey D. Strough

FULTON – Jeffrey D. Strough, 70; of Fulton passed away suddenly at Oswego Hospital.

He was born in Fulton, NY to the late Melvin and Gwendolyn (Wettering) Strough and He has remained a lifetime resident. Jeff began working as a driver when he was 18 years old and continued to be a driver for most of his life.

He first began driving for his parents’ cab company, then his brother-in-law Bob Truesdale’s cab. Jeff continued as an independent owner/operator as Jireh Medical Transport for OCO. He had also worked for Nucab, Fulton Taxi Service before owning and operating the Strough City Taxi, Fulton. Jeff was a man of many hats having also worked for Oswego County Industries and for the Highway Department.

He was also very musical and began to perform in several bands starting at the young age of 14. He continued his love of music starting with an accordion and by playing base guitar and singing with the Prince of Peace Church as a Worship Team Member and then at Believers Chapel as the Worship Team Leader.

Jeff loved his God, Wife and Family. He tried to be a good and faithful servant of God through his music and he enjoyed a life full of love, laughter, music, and dancing.

Jeff was pre-deceased by his siblings: Patricia Truesdale, James Strough, Melvin Strough Jr., granddaughter Shanda Michelle Nielson, father-in-law: Arnold C. Cooper and brother-in-law: Arnold P. Cooper.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years and loving companion of 28 years: Peni Strough of Fulton, and their 11 children: Laurie Ann (Steve Clark) Strough of NC, Karlye (Christopher Carne) Strough of Baldwinsville, NY; Lisa (Kenny) Johnson of NV; Cassandra Arnold of Baldwinsville, NY; Jeffrey J. (Chrishonna) Strough; Jayme J. (Danielle) Strough; Robert (Carla) Roik all of NV; Ken Hull of Cicero, NY; Jonathan (Courtney) Bidwell of Liverpool, NY; Jeremy (Rosanna) Bidwell and Michael J. (Cassie Carpenter) Bidwell both of Phoenix, NY; his mother-in-law: Helen A. Cooper of AZ, 27 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours are 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton. There will be a Private Funeral Service with Rev. Brandin Greco officiating. Burial will be held privately. Face masks and capacity limits will apply in adherence with NYS Mandates.
