Leonard Malone, 94

OSWEGO, NY – Leonard D. Malone, 94, of Oswego Town, NY, passed away on Wednesday July 15, 2015, at St. Luke Health Services, Oswego.

He was born in Oswego Town to the late John and Anna (Gray) Malone.

Mr. Malone remained a life resident of Oswego Town.

He was retired from the Oswego Town Highway Department where he worked on highway maintenance for several years.

Mr. Malone also enjoyed farming on the family farm for many years.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Hannibal, and St. Joseph’s Chapel, Hannibal.

He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Malone, in 1997; two grandchildren: Marcia Ukleya in 2014 and Dennis Malone in 2014; his son, Dennis Malone, in 1957; and also four brothers and one sister.

Mr. Malone is survived by his five children: Robert (Sonya) Malone, Richard (Candy) Malone, Loretta (Joseph) Ukleya, Noreen (Eric) Kaltenborn and Virginia (Terry) Wilbur all of Hannibal; brother, Leo Malone of Hannibal; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Rosary, Hannibal, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Smegelsky.

Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego.

Calling hours will be conducted 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego. missing or outdated ad config

  1. We were not supposed to have favorites by Leonard was one of mine. As a former CNA at St. Lukes, I will say it was a pleasure getting to know him. He was a very sweet man. His smile brightened many of my days. My sincerest condolences to his loved one.
