Peter Anthony Segretto

Rotterdam – Peter Anthony Segretto, 79, at rest Monday January 28, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer.

Peter was born and raised in Oswego, NY, the son of the late Anthony and Anna (Sugar) Segretto.

He was a graduate of Oswego High School, after which Peter served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He was a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College.

Peter’s work career concluded as a Credit Manager with many years service at RJ Murray Company in Latham, NY.

Active in his community, Peter was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Church, member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge 2157, Mohonasen High School Booster Club and a Rotterdam Little League Coach.

Peter was proud to be a part of the Rotterdam community where he raised his family and resided for the last 50 years.

Even though Peter left Oswego as a young man, he was also proud of his hometown where he still has many family members and good friends.

He was happiest when attending high school sporting events especially if his grandchildren were participants.

Peter was loved by many; always a great friend and neighbor.

Peter was the beloved father of Paul Segretto and his wife, Meg, of Falls Church, Va., Ellen Grandy and her husband, Gary of Wilton, NY., Susan Soldini and her husband, David of East Greenbush, NY; loving grandfather of Alexander, Matthew, Zachary and William Grandy, Samantha and Andrew Soldini, Alexei and Alina Segretto; beloved brother of Michael Segretto and his wife, Joanne of Oswego, and the late Dorothy Nessel; beloved brother-in-law of Al Nessel of Oswego.

Peter was the beloved “Uncle Pete” to many nieces and nephews with whom he communicated continuously throughout his life.

He was the former husband and current friend of Kathleen (Maney) Leader.
Calling hours for Peter will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego.

Funeral services will be Saturday at noon at the funeral home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.

Peter will be buried in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oswego.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Peter’s name to the Albany Stratton VA Hospice Unit, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208

Peter’s family would like to especially thank his close friends, Joe and Elsie Vullo, Tom Watts, Ginny Familo and Carolyn Bourgeois for their constant support of Peter and his family throughout his long illness.
