Richard W. Goodman, 86

OSWEGO, NY – Richard W. Goodman, 86, of Oswego, died Wednesday February 28, 2018, in Oswego Hospital.

He was born in Oswego, the son of the late Walter and Mary (Michalski) Goodman.

Mr. Goodman worked for Alcan and Metlife and was a local businessman, owning Goodman Reality where he was a real estate agent and broker.

He was a petty officer in the Naval Reserves.

Mr. Goodman enjoyed playing basketball and fast-pitch softball where he was the pitcher for the men’s Elks’ team.

Mr. Goodman coached CYO basketball for St. Peter’s Church. He also coached his son’s softball team where they qualified for the nationals playing in Arizona.

Mr. Goodman was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene Goodman of Oswego; their children, Rick (Joan) Goodman of Oswego, Dan (Tammie) Goodman of Horseheads, NY and David (Alice) Goodman of Oswego.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, William Goodman of Oswego.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Goodman was predeceased by his sister, Carol Hammil.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum.
