FULTON, NY – Ruth Hurlbut, 97, of Fulton, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 25, 2018, at the Syracuse Veterans’ Administration Medical Center after a short illness.
Mrs. Hurlbut was born in Oswego, NY, to the late Walter and Edith (Hill) Killenbec.
She was previously a resident of Florida and lived most of her life in Oswego County.
Mrs. Hurlbut was a United States World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Corp from 1944 to 1945.
She was previously employed with Taggert, Oswego, Flexo Wire, Oswego, and then she retired from Sealright, Co., Fulton, where she worked as a machine operator.
Mrs. Hurlbut enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Hurlbut; and son, David Simons.
Mrs. Hurlbut is survived by her two children: Lois Rhines of Fulton and Walt (Dianne) Simons of Washington; four grandchildren: Christopher Rhines, Rachel Doty, David (Andrea) Simons and Deborah (Tom) McGraw; eight great-grandchildren: Ben Rhines, Chris Bonnell, Liam and Abagail Roberge, Andrew Simons, Makayla, Bodan and Halli McGraw; great-great-granddaughter, Isabella Breckheimer; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately.
There will be no calling hours.
The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, has care of the arrangements.
