Samuel L. Morgia, 81

OSWEGO, NY – Samuel L. Morgia, 81, of Oswego, died Sunday April 23, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Oswego, the son of the late Salvatore and Catherine (Molinari) Morgia.

Mr. Morgia remained a lifetime resident of Oswego.

He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local # 73, where he employed with them for more than 20 years.

He retired as superintendent of buildings and grounds after 15 years from the Oswego City School District.

Mr. Morgia served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1954 until 1956.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, the PER of the Oswego Elks and former member of the Dante Alighieri.

Mr. Morgia is survived by his wife, Shirley Morgia of Oswego; children, Michael (Lisa) Morgia of Rochester and Laurie (Fred) Sharkey of Oswego.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kristina, Ashley and Delaney.

Mr. Morgia was predeceased by his siblings, Jenny Rinaldo, Gloria O’Donnell, Barbara Janice, Jeanette Morgia, Leo Morgia and Joseph Morgia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Oswego, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Entombment will be in All Saints’ Mausoleum.

The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.
