Smith Betts ‘Smitty’ Wilcox

FULTON, NY – Smith Betts “Smitty” Wilcox, formerly of Fulton, passed away early Sunday, March 23, 2014, at home in Alabama.

Mr. Wilcox was born in Fulton to the late Charles and Helen Wilcox.

He was a United States veteran having served in the Air Force.

Smitty continued his career in aerospace engineering with Douglas Aircraft, McDonell Douglas, Boeing, Xon Tech, Northrup Grumman and Davidson Technologies.

He is survived by his wife, Jackalyn Wilcox of Alabama; son, Daniel (Anika) Wilcox of Pittsburgh, Pa.; step-sons: Charles (Carrie) Orchard of Los Angeles, Calif., and Gregory (Paula) Orchard of Addy, Washington; sisters: Patricia Scholtz of Glenville, NY, and Peggy (Martin) Gillard of Fulton;  brothers: William (Mary) Wilcox of East Setauket, NY and Leigh Wilcox of Jefferson, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Alabama, with Rev. Michael Mac Mahon officiating.

Graveside services and burial will be held locally 11 a.m. Monday July 28 at Jacksonville Cemetery, Fenner Road, Phoenix, NY, with Rev. Moritz Fuchs officiating.

  1. so very sorry to hear of Smittys passing–went to sch together an Bowens corners church— we also live in alabama for 40 plus years prayers toall the family
