William V. Black, 93

FULTON, NY – William V. Black, 93, formerly of Fulton and recently of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday March 9, 2018, at The Shore Winds Nursing Home Rochester, NY.

Mr. Black was born in Texas, NY, to the late Peter and Florence (Thompson) Black.

He grew up in Mexico, NY, and spent most of his life (57 years) in Fulton.

He had lived in Rochester for the last 10 years.

Mr. Black was a United States veteran having served during World War II.

He retired in 1983 from Carrier Corp., Syracuse, where he had worked as an R&D technician.

Mr. Black was a past member of the Fulton Garden Club.

He loved camping and playing golf.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Doris (Willis) Black, in 2001; three brothers and one sister.

Mr. Black is survived by four children: Corlene Porter of Massachusetts, Gregory Black of Florida and New York, David Black of North Carolina and Robert Black of North Carolina; and companion, Sally Baechle of New York; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Mexico Cemetery, Mexico.

The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, has care of the arrangements.

  1. Corlene, Greg, David & Bob, I was so sorry to read of your dad’s passing. I have thought of him often, wondering how he was doing. There are many happy memories of the Sweet & Black families. Thinking of you all .
