Glenn R. Stevens, 86, 11/04/2008

OSWEGO, NY – Glenn R. Stevens, 86, a resident of Bishop’s Commons in Oswego and formerly a longtime resident of Minetto died Tuesday evening Nov. 4, 2008, in Oswego Hospital.

He was born in Minetto and was the son of the late Glenn D. and Catherine Tyrell Stevens.

He was the husband of Beatrice M. Dunsmoor Stevens.

Mr. Stevens served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Marine Corps.

Mr. Stevens served in the Navy CB Corps attaining the Rank of First Class Petty Officer.

He was a Special Deputy with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Stevens was a member of the Marine Corps League, VFW Post 5885 and the Minetto Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.

Mr. Stevens retired as Director of Food Service at SUNY Oswego.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Stevens is survived by two daughters, Betty M. (Jim) Kush of Granby and Joyce A. (Paul) Cooper of Oswego; two stepdaughters, Charlene (Harold) France and Dorothy Jones of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Henry Stevens of Oswego and Edward (Frances) Stevens of New Haven; three sisters, Catherine Abbott of Granby, Muriel Buske of Oswego and Shirley (William) Castleberry of Connecticut; five grandchildren, James (Sheri) Kush, Jeffrey Kush, Jennifer (Brandon) Lagoe, Steven (Amy) Kush and Ann (Mike) Jadus; three step-granddaughters, Mary, Brenda and Kathy; and 21 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Stevens, who died in 1951; and a sister, Alberta Menter, who died in 2007.

Funeral services will be Saturday 8:30 a.m. from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in Minetto Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Friday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
