James R. “Sharky” AuClair, 80

James R. “Sharky” AuClair, 80, a resident of 114 W. 8th St, Oswego, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 at University Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Ernest AuClair and Eugenie (Gaudette) AuClair Higgins.

Mr. AuClair was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.

He retired as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after many years.

He was a 50 year member of the Oswego Hot Stove Association, a member of the VFW post 5885. He volunteered at the Oswego Hospital and Seneca Hill Manor for many years. Sharky coached and managed several Little League Baseball teams. He was also an avid baseball fan.

Surviving is a daughter, Jayne M. (Timothy) Murphy of Oswego, two sons, Neil AuClair of Tampa, FL. and Mark (B. J.) AuClair of Oswego; the mother of their children, Nan AuClair; three sisters, Eileen Mahaney of Indiana; Jeannie Jones of Georgia and Joan (Dick) Germain of Oswego; five grandchildren, Bradley AuClair, Jason AuClair, Shawn Murphy, Brian Murphy and Erin Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Vernon “Windy” AuClair, Melvin “Boogie” AuClair, Ernest (Gus) AuClair, Gerald “Jerry” AuClair, Jack AuClair and a sister Teresa Fellows.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego. with Pastor Bruce Schrader officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

  1. I just wanted to give the family my deepet condolences. I have been out of Oswego for a while. I am best friends of Jamie Auclair. My Father was James Greeney on second street. I believe there was a connection from the boat houses with my father. I am deeply sorry for your loss.
