Janet Coons, 81

Janet Coons, 81, of Fulton, died Friday at home after a brief illness.

She was a life resident of Fulton and the daughter of Bronislaw and Antonia Brzuchac. Janet had worked at Armstrong World Industries in Fulton. She was well known locally as a painter and was a founding member of the Fulton Art Association. She was also a former member of the Art Association of Oswego. Janet won several art awards locally and at the New York State Fair.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Bruce Coons; two sisters, Loretta Munger of Fulton and Geneva Arcoraci of Oswego; a brother, Allan Brzuchac of Oswego; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours or services. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has charge of arrangements.

  1. Janet Coons was a Fulton treasure just because she was such a gentle, sweet soul, not to mention an extremely talented artist. I will always treasure the special tour she gave me of the gallery of her paintings located in her home. Am so sad she’s gone.

  2. So sorry for your loss. My wife Joyce and Janet go back many years–way back to Armstrong. I told Joyce , who has severe health problems, about Janets passing, and she was very lucid in her memories of her. We have two of Janets paintings in our Florida home. It will be difficult for you, but you have the strength to get through. Our thoughts and love to you. Don Johnson
