Jeanette Smith Burns, 89

Jeanette Smith Burns, 89, of Fulton died Friday, July 3, 2009 at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego.

A native of Hannibal, Missouri, she lived in Fulton since 1999 after living in Florida and Georgia for many years. She had worked for over 30 years for the Treasury Department in various states. Mrs. Burns was an active singer in many community and church activities. She was an Army veteran serving as a WAC from 1942-1944 and also served as Charter President of the Philomelians.

Surviving: a son Roger (Cindy) Burns of Oswego; a step-daughter Kathleen Lemmon of New Jersey; a niece Mary Anne Allen of Baldwinsville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several cousins.

Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, July 9th with a 6 p.m. service to immediately follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Burial will be private at Peck Cemetery, Scriba. Donations may be made to Oswego County Animal Welfare League, P.O. Box 4, Oswego, 13126.

  1. I am sorry to hear that Jeanette has died. I know how hard it is to watch a loved one suffer for a long period of time! We have lost so many of the last generation of Gilbert cousins. We are fast taking on the role of senior family members.
