John Roll Jr., 70, 11/02/2007

OSWEGO, NY – John Roll Jr., 70, a resident of 955 Cayuga St., Hannibal, passed away Friday November 2, 2007, at University Hospital., Syracuse.

Born in Massillon, Ohio, he was the son of the late John and Amelia (Jung) Roll.

Mr. Roll was a U.S. Navy veteran of 20 years, serving during Vietnam.

He was an electrical engineer at Miller Brewing Company.

Mr. Roll was involved in many community organizations including the District Commissioner of the Hiawatha Seaway Council, Hannibal Boy Scout Troop, assistant leader with the Girl Scouts, Hannibal VFW Post 5380 and the Hannibal American Legion Post 1552.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grand father.

Surviving are his wife, Florence (Britton) Roll; four daughters, Katherine (Mark) Fulater of Florida; Elizabeth Bradley of Syracuse; Ella Berg of Florida and Barbara (Gren) Sampson of Oswego; a son, John Roll III of Oswego; a sister, Joanne Roll of Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Mark David Fulater, Heather Moran, Emilee Ranger, Amanda Saxe, JuliaAnn Ennis, Erin Samson, Kevin Allen, John W. Samson, Jeremy Allen, Jacob Bradley, Joshua Bradley, Collin Samson, Zoey Young and Tristan Roll; six great-grandchildren, Alison Roll, Christopher Moran, Ryan Bush, Jade Saxe, Isabella Jackson, Mia Ennis; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Hannibal Village Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home, 11 W. Albany St. Oswego.

Contributions may be made to the local Boy Scouts chapter.
