John S. Kostoroski, 83

John S. Kostoroski, 83, a resident of Simeon Dewitt Apt. and formerly of Tallman St. Oswego, passed away July 10, 2008 at the Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late John and Suzanne Kostoroski.

He was a WWII Navy Veteran and later was the recipient of the Oswego Veteran of the Year Award.

He was employed as a Boilermaker and a member of the local 175.  He retired from the Oswego D.P.W.

He was a member of the P.L.A.V. for over 50 years and also served as Past Commander, a member of the Eks 271, life member of the American Legion #268.

John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed Sky Chiefs Baseball, Polka dancing and Blue Grass festivals.

Surviving are his wife, Tillie (Pawlenko) Kostoroski, a daughter, Christine (Tom) Benzing of Oswego; two sons, Gary Kostoroski and Keith (Tammy) Kostoroski, both of Oswego; a niece, Linda Mott of Oswego; a nephew, Michael (Dawn) Kostoroski of Mass; five grandchildren, Carey Benzing, Lisa Benzing, Laurie DeLong, Ashley Kostoroski and Brandon Kostoroski; two great-grandchildren, Megan Christine DeLong and Emma DeLong.

He was predeceased by a brother, William Kostoroski.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen’s Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 9-10a.m. Wednesday, prior to the services, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego

    Ronnie & I were sorry for your loss. Tillie, I dont know if you remember me , but I worked at the hospital with Shirley Haynes (many many moons ago) You were always one of my favorite people– my heart and prayers go out to you and your family.
