Mary Agnes (Mulcahey) Lowery, 91

OSWEGO, NY – Mary Agnes (Mulcahey) Lowery, 91, a resident of 92 Liberty St., passed away on Thursday Feb. 11, 2010, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Lenehan) Mulcahey.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School, Oswego High School and the Rochester Business Institute.

She was employed with the St. Regis Paper Company and later retired from the Oswego City School District in 1981.

Mrs. Lowery was a member of the PTA and the St. Mary’s Women’s Club.

She enjoyed sewing and reading and was an avid SU sports fan.

She enjoyed all the family activities especially watching her children and grandchildren play sports.

Mary enjoyed spending time on the lake from the walks to Breitbeck Park to watch the sunset and the band concerts, or to see the lighthouse and the sailboats on the lake.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathy (Ed) Lowery of Little Falls, Patty (Phil) Lowery of Logantownship, NJ and Peg (Patrick) Lowery of Sarasota Fla.; three sons, Joe (Pam) Lowery of Winston Salem, Bob (Diane) Lowery and Jack (Nancy) Lowery both of Oswego; and four grandchildren, Dan, Bryan, R.J. and Jason.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph (Bounce) Lowery; three sisters, Elizabeth Mulcahey, Anna West and Margaret Dillion; and two brothers, Frederick and Edward Mulcahey.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.

There are no calling hours.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Church Restoration Fund.

  1. We are so very sorry to hear about the passing of your mother, although we just met her a year ago, she seemed like a very nice lady. Our sincere condolences to the entire family. We live across the street from her, again, very, very sorry.
