Richard M. Burritt, 79, a resident of West Second St. Oswego, passed away October 16, 2009 at University Hospital, Syracuse.

Born in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Elmer O. and Dorothy (McKay) Burritt.

Rich was the Owner and Operator of Burritt Motors in Oswego for many years. He also managed various Auto Dealers in Palm Springs, California and was a previous owner of Oswego Auto Parts.

Mr. Burritt served on the Oswego County Savings Board.

He enjoyed his family, winters in California, golfing and boating. He was an avid Yankee’s and SU fan.

Surviving is his wife, Barbara (Michaud) Burritt with whom celebrated their 60th Anniversary April 17th; a son, Chris (Sue) Burritt of Oswego; two daughters, Michelle (Jim) Higgins of Oswego; Sherry (Bob) Day of Fair Haven; a brother, Hugh (Grace) Burritt of Oswego; two sisters, Carolyn Miller and Barbara (Leo) Bishop, both of Florida; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

The Family invites friends to join them for a Funeral Service on Wednesday at 7p.m. at the Elim Grace Christian Church, West First St. Oswego. Visitation will be held prior from 4-7p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St. Oswego.

In Lieu of Flowers, contributions can be made to the Oswego Hospital building fund or Elim Grace Church fund.

  2. Rich, Richie, Family: I’m extremely sorry and sad for your loss. I saw him at Rudy’s this summer and marveled at the fact that I came down from the 1000 Islands on vacation where my in-laws camp just to get a meal. Put a big smile on my (and his) face. God bless him.

  4. To my Burritt family, I am sorry that we will not be their for the services, but our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. When I got the news, I shared some found memories of “Uncle Dick” with mom, and my family who unfortunately never had the privaledge of knowing him. May God bless all of you.
