OSWEGO, NY – William J. McRae, 75, a resident of 8 Simmons Drive, died on July 21, 2009, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Syracuse, he was a son of the late Homer and Kathleen (Higgins) McRae and had attended Syracuse schools.
He was employed with Hammermill and International Paper for 46 years retiring in 1997.
Mr. McRae was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed bowling and fishing and was an avid NASCAR enthusiast.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Judy Beach; three sons, William (Tammy) McRae Jr. of New Haven, John (Sascha) McRae of Oswego and Robert (Lauri) McRae of Oswego; one daughter, Peggy McRae of Oswego; one brother, Lawrence (Bonnie) McRae of Oswego; two sisters, Patricia Hammond of Canastota and Eveleen McRae of Pulaski; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Pete, James and Robert; and a sister, Elizabeth Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.
Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Thursday from 3-6 p.m.
