William T. "Bill" Russell

William T. “Bill” Russell, 58, of State Rte. 13, Williamstown, NY, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at his home after a long illness.

He was born May 23, 1951, in Williamstown, a son of William and Marion Jones Russell, and was a 1969 graduate of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School. Bill received his bachelor’s and master’s from SUNY Oswego.

He also served with the U.S. Air Force and later worked as a military police officer at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, NY.

Bill worked with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Dept. before teaching media and computer science at A.P.W. Middle School. He retired from Oswego County BOCES in 2008 as a criminal justice instructor.

Bill also served as Williamstown town justice for many years and as a county legislator from 1993-95 and as Oswego County’s 911 clerk of the works during its inception. On July 27, 1973, he married the former Sherry Ottoway in Central Square, NY.

Surviving besides his wife Sherry are one daughter, Vicky and Jonn Stoker of Lacona; two grandchildren, Carley and Cade; five sisters, Barb Joyner of Williamstown, Bonnie Webb of Bernhards Bay, Lois Russell of Orwell, Rhea Russell of Williamstown and Cindy Garrison of Arizona; three brothers, Donald of Central Square, Daniel of Fayetteville, NC, and Joseph Russell of Williamstown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by an infant brother, Joseph Allen Russell.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY. There will be no calling hours. Spring interment will be in Fair View Cemetery, Williamstown, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care, Inc.
