The event is open to youth ages 12 through 20.

According to Heather Sturges, outreach specialist with OCO Crisis & Development Services, the idea for the Zombie Prom was suggested by participating youth.

“We were discussing creative and fun ways in which our program educate youth about the importance of healthy relationships and STI/HIV awareness and our participants thought a zombie themed prom would be a cool idea. When I approached Betty Fadden, executive director of Fulton YMCA, she said she was happy to support our youth and have the Fulton YMCA serve as host the event,” said Sturges.

With a theme of Be Strong, Be Smart, Be Protected, the Zombie Prom is another example of how OCO Crisis & Development Services and the many programs that it offers encourages youth to build strengths and make informed decisions about their future.

“The Zombie Prom is going to be a great event. There will be music provided by one of our Youth 4 Youth participants, dancing, plenty of interactive games and activities, awesome decorations, courtesy of the Fulton YMCA, and some cool trivia. We will crown a Zombie court and a Zombie king and queen!” added Sturges.
