Ohio’s Shullick Jr. to Contend for Oswego Speedway’s ‘Mr. Supermodified’ Title

OSWEGO, NY – Announced on Monday, ISMA Supermodified ‘King of Wings’ champion Dave Shullick Jr., will return to non-wing Novelis Supermodified action Saturday night at Oswego Speedway to contend for the title of ‘Mr. Supermodified’ and $10,000 in John Nicotra’s No. 6 machine.

Shullick, who recently placed third in Sandusky Speedway’s Hy-Miler Nationals 100, will return to Nicotra Racing for the first time since finishing third in the 75-lap Jim Shampine Memorial at Oswego on May 24.

Dave Shullick Jr. will return to the seat of the Nicotra Racing No. 6 Supermodified Saturday night for Oswego Speedway's $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified main event presented by Davis Bros. Inc.

Dave Shullick Jr. will return to the seat of the Nicotra Racing No. 6 Supermodified Saturday night for Oswego Speedway’s $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified main event presented by Davis Bros. Inc.

In three Speedway races this season, Shullick has yet to finish outside of the top ten positions between wing a non-wing action.

After starting 24th in the Shampine Memorial, Shullick outlasted most of the competition to take a podium finish behind teammate Otto Sitterly and current championship leader Dave Gruel, in front of Speed Sport and MAVTV television cameras.

Just two weeks later, Shullick returned in the Bodnar Racing winged No. 94 Supermodified with a ninth place run in the first round of the ISMA Supermodified Shea Concrete ‘Steel Palace’ ISMA Super Series.

A month later, Shullick contended in the Bodnar No. 95 and went to Oswego’s victory lane for the first time since 2008, being crowned King Dave Shullick VI, after winning the 6th annual King of Wings event at the fast 5/8 mile.

Shullick has made it very clear that he aspires to reach Oswego’s victory lane in Novelis Supermodified competition, a feat his father Dave Shulllick Sr. accomplished three times through his illustrious career.

Saturday night, Shullick will have 75-laps to try and reach his dream and once again he will have the opportunity to do so in front of national television cameras from Speed Sport and MAVTV, with the $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified event airing on September 11 at 8 p.m. EST and PST.

No matter the result, Saturday’s event will mark further non-wing development for Shullick and Nicotra Racing as they continue to prepare for the 58th annual running of the Budweiser International Classic 200 at Oswego coming on August 31.

Fans can reserve seats today for Saturday’s $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified presented by Davis Bros. Inc. by calling the Speedway’s main box office at (315) 342-0646.

General admission seating is available for only $20 on August 2 with padded reserved seating for $25. Pit admission is $35.
