State Legislators face a sticky set of challenges as the legislative session draws to a close. Constituents (that’s you and me, or most of us, anyway) overwhelmingly want the state to cap school tax increases at 4% a year. And in these final furious days of the session, the Legislature is doing something.
And a Huzzah! went up across the land as the Legislature acted on the big issues:
I can hear you sayin’, “Now, wait just a doggone minute, Skippy. Where’s the tax cap?â€ÂÂ
Well, um, you see….er….oh…..there’s a bit of a problem.
And as long as I’m fessing up, I oughta tell you that a lot of big stuff just ain’t happenin’.
And I guess you need to know this, too: Sometimes, your favorite legislator votes to kill a plan that he proposed himself.
Just another year in Paradise, eh?
Elsewhere:
- Attorney General Cuomo’s BOCES pension fraud probe gets wider and wider.
- The state’s courts will be a bit friendlier to those facing home foreclosure.
- The death penalty debate rears its head.
- And thank God the Legislature has protected all of us from the threat of Mixed Martial Arts fights.
