Name Change!

Section 8 housing, Low-income housing, Affordable housing, Mixed income housing, Working class housing!

Changing the name doesn’t change the outcome.

Politicians, Developers keep changing the name of the housing in the hopes that the public won’t notice that they all mean the same thing.

Some are going as far as to say, “Build them (Affordable housing) and development and jobs will come”.

Everyone I have talked to agrees that Fulton needs redevelopment! They all agree that we need redevelopment that will bring in revenue not added burden on our already stressed public safety. Which in turn will add costs to our budget and that means more taxes paid.

Why isn’t anyone asking the question!

WHY DOES GOVERNOR HOCHUL, AND THE DOWN STATE DEMOCRATES WANT US TO BUILD AFFORDABLE HOUSING?

If you say Micron is coming! You are living in a dream world.

Yes, Micron it seems is going to build a CHIP plant in Clay. What affect that will have on the people in Fulton is not dependent on the building of AFFORDABLE HOUSING.

Someone said, “Developers don’t want to bring their business here because there is no place for their workers to live” As a business major, I don’t remember a class that said “make sure your workers have a place to live before you open or build your business.

A quote from the last DRI meeting “There will be developers coming and there will be suppliers from Micron coming and looking at Fulton, and if Fulton’s not ready with that Nestle’ site, Fulton will be the city that revitalization forgot.”

The person that made that statement has a connection with a person that wrote a letter saying how lucky Fulton was that Housing Visions wants to put affordable housing in the area.

Redevelopment of the Nestle’ site is critical to any attraction of relocation of workers or new business. However, that REDEVELOPMENT should be in the form of OWNER OCCUPIED SIGNALE FAMILY HOMES. They can be condos or townhouses, but they must be OWNER OCCUPIED.

That type of REDEVELOPMENT will bring in an increase in real property taxes to help our tax base. It will not bring in a non-paying increase in need for more public safety (Police, Fire & Codes Department)

Please anyone that cares about this city come and speak your mind at the CC meetings. If you can’t come send me a letter and I will read your letter at the meetings. I will read them all, for and against affordable housing.

  1. It took nearly nine months to get rid of a drug house at 416 Park street which is just around the corner from the new proposed low rent site. Just what we need is more vagrants, squatters, homeless, and drug users hanging around the site and ruining what was a nice neighborhood. Your going to need those three new cops as the residents will be calling 911 daily. Kiss any hope of Micron employees moving to Fulton as no one wants to live next to that problem,

  2. Call housing aid what you want: section 8,low income, mixed income. It doesn’t matter what you call it. We have a housing crisis in Fulton. We need safe, affordable well-maintained housing. And we need it yesterday. We have the homeless, seniors, single parents and other low income residents living on incomes that cannot afford to pay $1,000+ for monthly rent.
Be grateful if you are doing well and can live without financial help. Have compassion for those that struggle. Always remember that life can change quickly. Today we’re up and tomorrow you might be down. I’d love to see properties like the Baptist Church, Erie St school and the old Catholic Charities converted to quality affordable housing. Let’s do it!
