County Legislature to Vote on Lake Ontario Name Change
Oswego County residents are encouraged to attend the Oswego County Legislature meeting on Thursday, September 10 at 7:00 PM at 46 East Bridge Street, Oswego. This particular meeting carries real consequences for our community.
Not only will legislators be voting on a number of budget modification resolutions, but the entire Legislature will also vote on a resolution rejecting the President’s attempt to change the name of Lake Ontario. A strong public presence in the room will send a clear message: Oswego County will not allow its lake, its heritage, or its future to be reshaped by political theatrics.
The evening meeting time gives more residents the chance to attend, follow the discussion, and speak before votes are cast. And at the end of the session, the Legislature holds an open public comment period, where citizens can voice their concerns directly and on the record.
This is one of those moments when showing up matters. Let’s fill the room, stand behind the resolution, and demonstrate that Oswego County protects its heritage, its economy, and its love of our Lake Ontario.
