Parking Meters and Pay Public Restrooms Next!

To The Editor:
Last year, taxes went up. This year, fees are going up.

We must ask ourselves if this is a means of helping the revitalization of the city or just another straw on our backs.

Fees are just another form of a tax.

Fees for improving your house in any shape or form may start to cost you more.

If you want to express your feelings go to the public hearing on June 7.

Also “use” fees may also be going up; if you want to use any city owned pavilion, etc.

The only fee I believe should go up is the Rental Permit Fee.

I have expressed that in the past.

This time I’m going to go a little bit further. The fee could be $600 for a five-year permit.

Now there should be discounts for owner occupied rental property.

Let’s say $100 discount. A $75 discount if the owner lives in the city and can be contacted 24 hours a day seven days a week.

A $50 discount if there is a manager on the premises to handle noise and nuisance calls.

Also discounts for multiple units, that one would have to be worked out.

This would not only increase the city’s bank account but help control the rental problems in the city.

At least 30% of rental properties in the city are some form of Section 8 housing so we would be getting our own monies back.

All of the other “fees” are double dipping.

If you improve your home your assessment goes up.

So not only do you have to pay an increased permit fee your taxes will also go up.

Double dipping.

So I say it won’t be long before they start making us pay for parking in any city owned parking lot.

They have already started with a two-hour parking limit in parts of downtown (now that is word from the past).

Next would be pay Blue Boys at city sponsored events.

Up Next!

The lake project we all have been asked to contribute to and have seen grant money obtained by Senator Ritchie.

It is my feelings and I have expressed this before.

I feel they will start charging us to use the lake when it is ready.

How else are they going to pay for the upkeep and manpower?

Just keep this in mind when they bring that up.

It was our tax dollars and our donations that paid for the dredging.

  1. They probably will end up having to install parking meters to help off set the 30,000.00 plus increase in rates a year for the Downtown Wi/Fi. All these fees eventually add up to more taxes!

  2. Frank, you are making things up out of your own imagination. You have no idea what you are talking about, so you make up problems. You are making up fees to use the lake. You are making up parking meters. You don’t know that low permit fees cause higher taxes for all residents so landlords don’t have to pay much, even though rental properties have the highest police costs, causing our taxes to go up even more. Low permit fees cause higher taxes. Do you have any idea what you are talking about, Frank, and how much you are hurting the people of Fulton and the City of Fulton?

  3. did you anonymously call in to have work stopped at former nestle sight frank? the treasonous traitor that did those calls would fit a character who fight against aldi since the first day and likes to make trouble for fulton. you supposed to help fulton. you always say bad bbad things about fulton. you say nothing about the good stuff and the good people. you just say you hate fulton. why are you a bad character for fulton frank.

  4. Get A Clue: You have the ability to read but not comprehend what you have read. I said that the next step would be to create those fees not that they had. They have already put a 2 hour limit of parking or you get a ticket(just a form of a parking meter) As far as the lake goes. How do you think they are going to pay for the lifeguards and the up keep of the water front etc. Raise our taxes or charge a fee. Take you head out of the sand. Also I said the rental permit for landlords should be $600. So what story did you read. Or did someone read it to you or tell you about it.

  5. It’s your character: Yes I called the DOL twice and each time I used my name. The first time was to find out about the variance that the contractor had asked for the Mayor and others said the state was holding up the project. We low and behold the variance the mayor said they were waiting on in Feb. wasn’t ever applied for until March. And it was refused two days after in was submitted. No action needed to be taken by the DOL at the site. The second time again I used my name to find out if the process of watering down the material like we had asked was legal. They said yes. At that time asked why a person would be told to run and hide if an inspector showed up. They asked if that person was certified to handle asbestos. I said I didn’t think so. They said they would go to the site. Info from the state says they have never stopped work when they went to the site. Also get your facts straight. I asked questions at a meeting to see if the CC knew the ans. and they didn’t or didn’t want to ans. I have talked to ALDIS more times than the Mayor or you and the rest of the CC has and made sure they where still coming to Fulton and let them know we wanted them here and would offer other properties if needed, even though you and the rest of CC have failed to push to make sure it happens this year. Oh by the way how much are my taxes going to go down when they come here?
