What side of history will you be on?

My name is Colette M Badger and I am running for County Legislature, District 20. We are less than 2 weeks from the midterms, and if there is ONE thing I would agree with trump, it’s that this is a decisive election. As a candidate for county leg I have been advised to focus on just local issues. This is what I want for our community:
• A hunger task force in our impoverished county. Partnering with county, nonprofits and state agencies. With 4000 hungry kids we need to do something.
• A living wage for people who go to work every day and still need assistance.
• Rescind the raises! When our County Leg voted themselves, the County Clerk and the Sheriff raises ( up to 45% over 3 years) while so many of our citizens struggle with food, housing and healthcare insecurities, I decided I had to run for office. And then just a few weeks ago, when given the chance to back peddle on those raises, the current republican majority refused to take it beyond committee.
• A “no collusion” policy between Oswego County Sheriff and ICE. Ice has been detaining, injuring and in some instances causing the death of people who are not “the worst of the worst,”. Sometimes they are American citizens with their biggest sin being brown skin. Often, they are people who have been working in the community for years, never harming a soul, paying taxes, building a life and contributing to society, and stuck in a very flawed immigration system.
Federal spills into Local. Republicans have abdicated their job in our government, whether it’s Oswego County Legislature or U.S. Senate. They blindly fall in line. I’ve seen it firsthand in the County Legislature and fought it on the Federal level.
We are living in a country that for over 80 years fought fascism, communism and authoritarianism. Yet in the last 10 years we have ENABLED an inspiring dictator to defy our Constitution. The corruption, grifting and racism coming out of OUR Whitehouse cannot be separated from local issues because what happened in Washington affects every one of us. When this toxic dust settles, I want to be on the ‘right side” of history, so when my grandchildren ask me what I did when all of this was going down, I can truthfully say “ I fought like hell baby” My Name Is Colette M Badger, Oswego County Legislature Candidate, District 20
