Oswego Clearview Squirts Win Two Against Ithaca and Morrisville

Oswego Clearview Squirt Forward Jack Stephens takes the puck up the ice against Ithaca in recent Snowbelt hockey action. Oswego defeated Ithaca and Morrisville over the weekend. Stephens tallied 4 assists in the game against Morrisville.

Oswego, NY – The Oswego Clearview Squirt hockey team defeated Ithaca 5-3 and Morrisville 12-1 in recent Snowbelt hockey action, according to Oswego Head Coach Eric Koproski.

Oswego improved to 6-4 on the season.

“The team really showed what they can do on offense… as well as defense in the two wins,” said Koproski. “We took advantage of opportunities throughout the weekend, and really played outstanding as a team.”

On the road in Ithaca, Oswego fell behind 1-0 early in first period, before Oswego Forward Spencer Stepien went top shelf off a feed from Isaiah Raby and Andrew Noyes to tie the game. Stepien added his second goal of the contest at 4:28 of the second period, before Ithaca followed with their own. Oswego’s Alex Koproski got the scoring started in the third period with an unassisted tally, and then added another just minutes later off an assist from Stepien. Ithaca would add one more goal, before Koproski scored on an empty netter late in the game for his first hat trick of the season.

According to Koproski, Oswego’s defensemen Bryson Bush, Isaiah Raby, Lane Phillips, and Nick Burnett really stepped up to help preserve the win.

Oswego goalie Tyler Wallace once again played stellar in net with 27 saves.

The following day at the Ice Plex in Morrisville, Oswego dominated from the start, jumping out on the Mustangs 4-1 in the first period. Oswego’s Noyes started the scoring with two unassisted goals, followed by goals from Stepien and Koproski, off of assists by Jack Stephens.

Oswego would add four more goals in the second period, with scores coming from Jeremy Susino, Patrick Galvin, and two more from Noyes. Oswego’s Mason Bricker, as well as Phillips, Stephens and Koproski provided the assists.

With an 8-1 advantage heading to the third period, Oswego’s Burnett added to the scoring, followed by Koproski, Bricker and Phillips. Stephens and Noyes added the assists.

Oswego registered 45 shots on goal against the home Morrisville team. Oswego goalie Wallace had only 5 shots against him the entire contest.

“I was proud of the kids throughout the weekend,” said Koproski. “They have come together as a team, and we are looking forward to our upcoming schedule of games.”

Oswego vs. Ithaca: Koproski 3 goals; Stepien 2 goals and 1 assist; Noyes 1 assist; Raby 1 assist.
Oswego vs. Morrisville: Noyes 4 goals and 1 assist; Koproski 2 goals and 1 assist; Phillips 1 goal and 2 assists; Bricker 1 goal and 1 assist; Stepien 1 goal; Burnett 1 goal; Galvin 1 goal; Susino 1 goal; and Stephens 4 assists.
