VOLNEY, NY – The Conservative Party of Oswego County today announced its endorsement Michael C. Backus of Mexico for the office of Oswego County Clerk.
They voted to endorse Backus at the reorganizational meeting held on Monday.
“Mike came in front of our committee prepared to answer any question and showed us that he has a real vision for the clerk’s office,” said newly elected Conservative Party Chairman Ron Greenleaf. “There is no question that the best candidate to carry the Conservative banner this fall is Mike Backus – we proudly endorse him for Oswego County Clerk.”
“I am honored to have received the endorsement of the Oswego County Conservative Party and I look forward to working with them throughout the campaign going forward,” said Backus. “When we work together, across party lines, there are few things that we cannot accomplish right here in Oswego County.”
Greenleaf was elected chairman of the Oswego County Conservative Party at the reorganizational meeting.
He replaced retiring chairman Len Schick who is going to remain on as a state committee liaison.
The office of Oswego County Clerk will be on the ballot this November after the death of former clerk George Williams.
Williams served as Oswego County Clerk for more than 30 years.
