Updates from Oswego JV volleyball’s first two games and first tournament.

Vs. FM

“We have worked hard this pre-season on coming out quickly against teams and really have focused on our serving and offense.

Tonight the girls started the season the way we have been discussing quick and fast. Serving was a strong point for us tonight and will need to be this season with some of the tough competition and tournaments ahead of us.”

Vs. Cazenovia

“The girls knew going into tonight’s match that Cazenovia was going to be a good defensive team as well as a good serving team. We had a good match on our hands tonight and I am very happy with how the girls responded. Cazenovia really put us on our heels defensively and we got behind a few times in both set 1 and set 2. Our girls dig in and came out with a win in both of the first two sets of the match. Again we paced ourselves very well with our serving and our offense.  But the match tonight gave us a good defensive workout as cazenovia is an aggressive offensive group. This was a good match for us to have and to reflect on moving forward.”

Penfield tournament.
Runner up in the SIlver division.

“We finished in pool play at 2-4 which put us in the silver division giving us a 2 seed. During pool play we lost two sets to Wayne 25-23 both sets, Brighton we beat 2 sets to zero at 25-12 and 25-14, and we gave host Penfield a good first set only losing by 3 points at 25-22 and the second set we did not serve very well losing 25-13.
In playoffs we started with a good hitting team in Canadaigua and we were forced to play good defense and we won 26-24, it was a tough back and forth match.
From their we moved on to play Fairport and we took care of the ball with our serving to win that set 25-19 which put us against 1 seed C-NS for the championship game. We lost 25-19 in the championship to a well paced C-NS group.
We dug ourselves a hole early and struggled to get out of it. But the day as a whole was a great way for everyone on the team to not only learn from but to reflect on the things we need to do in matches when we face off with some tough opponents.  We can keep this momentum as we move forward as we host a match Wednesday against a tough Lafeyette group and then onto our annual Buc Booster 10 team tournament on Saturday.”
