OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Opera Theater is pleased to announce the first production of its new 2012-2013 schedule, presenting a “Welcome Back” concert on November 11 at 2:30 p.m. in Waterman Theater in Tyler Hall on the SUNY-Oswego Campus.
The production celebrates young Opera and Musical Theatre artists who call Oswego “home.”
Singers include David Artz, Tamar Greene, Stephen Lavonier, Andrew Richardson, Tyler Spicer, Meghan Phillips Thompson, Nichole Weigelt, and Dan Williams.
They will be joined by members of the Oswego Opera Theater Company including Sarah Hasagawa and Kathleen Magee Querec, and several new artists making their debuts: Kirk Dougherty, Robert Dumas, Kerry Lerew, and Danan Tsan.
Music to be performed includes arias and ensembles from Rigoletto, I Pagliacci, Lucia di Lammermoor, Die Fledermaus, The Secret Garden, Les Miz, and many more.
Performers who are graduates of Oswego High School include David Artz, Stephen Lavonier, Tyler Spicer, Meghan Phillips Thompson, and Nichole Weigelt.
Other professional performers associated with Oswego include Robert Dumas (new chorus director at Oswego High School), Tamar Greene (SUNY-Oswego alumnus), Andrew Richardson (son of OOT Artistic Director Mack Richardson and Oswego native Christine Wheeler Richardson), and Dan Williams (current graduate student at SUNY Oswego and an OOT board member).
The performers have impressive resumes, including advanced voice study at institutions such as the Eastman School of Music, Syracuse University, Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, the Peabody Conservatory (Baltimore), the Hartt School of Music (Hartford), Boston University School of Fine Arts, and the Manhattan School of Music.
