OSWEGO, N.Y. – Dylan Hardwick (Sr., Watertown, N.Y.) and Meghan Murphy (Fr., Dix Hills, N.Y.) paced the Oswego State men’s and women’s cross country teams to third- and fourth-place finishes, respectively, at the 12-team Oswego State Cross Country Invitational. Murphy placed fifth among 113 runners with a time of 20:02, while Hardwick took eighth out of 148 competitors after clocking a time of 27:10.
Ithaca took first place as a team in both the men’s and women’s races with the women recording 22 points and the men posting 34 points. Conor Cashin of SUNY Cobleskill was the men’s individual champion of the 8K race with a result of 26:40, while Emily D’Addario of William Smith took the women’s 5K title with a time of 18:54.
The remaining four scoring Oswego State women’s runners behind Murphy were less than a minute to help the Lakers record 93 points. Erin Crise (Jr., Fredonia, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in 24th place with a result of 31:30 followed by Christina Sakowski (So., Cicero, N.Y.) in 27th with a time of 21:40. Kathleen Fulton (So., Oceanside, N.Y.) and Barbara Scheibel (Fr., Fabius, N.Y.) rounded out the scorers with a 29th-place finish (21:51) and a 34th-place result (22:03), respectively.
Ryan Korzinski (Jr., Ballston Lake, N.Y.) was 11 seconds behind Hardwick in ninth place after recording a time of 27:11. Mike Bott (Sr., Camillus, N.Y.) and Ben Sweet (Jr., Pine Bush, N.Y.) were 20th and 21st, respectively, with times of 28:05 and 28:08. The last Oswego State male scorer was Nick Montesano (Fr., Apalachin, N.Y.), who edged out teammate Thorin Kane(Jr., Dewittville, N.Y.) by 0.35 seconds for 30th with a time of 28:40.27.
Oswego State has next weekend off before competing at the Houghton Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24.
