CLERMONT, Fla. – The Oswego State softball team (1-3) split action on Saturday with a 14-10 win over Keene State followed by a 5-0 loss to Ramapo (1-1).
The Laker offense broke out against Keene State. Sammie Schroeter (Jr., Schenectady, N.Y.) and Sue Schoff (Sr., Little Falls, N.Y.) each finished the contest with three hits each. Schroeter registered two runs and an RBI, while Schoff drove in three runs and recorded a double. Katie Bredin (Jr., Oneonta, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 from the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases.
Dee Apps (Jr., Camillus, N.Y.) ended the game 2-for-3, scoring three runs and driving in a pair after a double and a triple. Alexandra McKay (Fr., Fairport, N.Y.) went 1-for-4, but her one hit was a three-run homerun. Justine Abramowski (So., Levittown, N.Y.) also plated a two runs for the victors.
In the day’s second game, Ramapo’s Jaclyn Lima led off the bottom of the first with a triple to right center and came around two batters later to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead. Ramapo extended its lead in its half of the fourth with four runs, including a two-run triple from the bat of Kim LaPenta, to go ahead 5-0.
The Laker bats managed six hits, but were unable to string them together as it was kept off the scoreboard.
Alexandria Connelly (Fr., Endicott, N.Y.) suffered the loss after giving up an earned run on five hits in 1.1 innings. Alexis Nasca (Fr., Hamburg, N.Y.) allowed two earned runs over the course of two innings, while Sarah Thayer (Sr., Winthrop, N.Y.) gave up two more runs in the final 2.2 innings. Ramapo’s Harley Masiello hurled a complete game recording eight strikeouts.
