OSWEGO — If your child is under 10 years old and received their first dose of H1N1 vaccine at the Oswego County Health Department’s school-based clinic for Oswego City Schools in December, a second booster dose is now strongly recommended.
“This second booster dose will ensure a better defense against the H1N1 flu for your children,†said Dr. Dennis Norfleet, Oswego County Public Health Director. “While the incidence of H1N1 has decreased, the Centers for Disease Control is still very concerned about the illness and the potential for its recurrence. It is expected that another wave of H1N1 will hit sometime in the upcoming months.â€Â
A clinic will be held at the Oswego County Health Department, 70 Bunner St., Oswego, Thursday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. Appointments are required.
Dr. Norfleet said that if a child still needs their first dose of H1N1 vaccine or received their first dose more than four weeks ago from a different provider, they can still attend this clinic. Those children who received their first dose from a different provider must bring a record of the first vaccination.
Staff members and parents who have not yet received their H1N1 vaccination are also welcome at this clinic. There is no cost for the vaccination.
