OSWEGO – January 22, 2024, In the evolving landscape of healthcare, Oswego Health’s Mental Health and Wellness Program is a beacon of integrated, patient-centered care. Supporting nearly 1,000 local youth to improve their overall quality of life and reduce the stigma around mental health, the former Child and Family Services Department recently underwent a makeover to not only their facility but their name.

A total of $55,500 was raised by the Oswego Health Foundation to support the renovation of the clinic including support from Brookfield Renewable U.S., Stewart’s Shops, Richard S. Shineman Foundation, and the Oswego Health Employee Giving Campaign.

Renovations included the expansion of the nursing supervisor’s office, alteration of the check-in window to allow better visualization of the lobby to enhance security, new flooring, painting, and the installation of a PA system with music in some areas with the addition of white noise for the element of privacy.

In addition to the physical renovations, Oswego Health took the opportunity to rebrand 98 N. Second St. in Fulton, to better explain the services within the clinic. Therefore, Child & Family Services will now be called the Center for Mental Health & Wellness for Youth.

The Center for Mental Health & Wellness for Youth includes child/adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and nurses who work closely with families, empowering them to successfully support their children, both during and after treatment. The department provides a wide range of outpatient services to children aged 5-18, including medication management and therapy. They also operate school-based therapy clinics in several area school districts, including Hannibal, Fulton, and Oswego, with plans to expand to other local schools.

In 2023 the Center supported 922 children, consisting of 18,440 visits. In addition, as part of their early intervention initiative, the team worked collaboratively with local school districts to support 626 students through school-based therapy clinics.
