Oswego Health Earns Reaccreditation from The Joint Commission, Reaffirming Commitment to Safe and Quality Care

OSWEGO – Oswego Health is proud to announce that it has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital, Behavioral Health Care, and Human Services Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s nationally recognized performance standards. This prestigious reaccreditation applies to Oswego Hospital, the Lobdell Center for Mental Health and Wellness at Lakeview, and the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT).

The Gold Seal is a symbol of excellence that reflects Oswego Health’s dedication to providing safe, high-quality, and compassionate care to every patient, every day.

The reaccreditation follows a rigorous, unannounced onsite review conducted on April 24, 2025, during which a team of Joint Commission surveyors assessed Oswego Health’s adherence to critical healthcare standards. Areas reviewed included emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, patient care, and the rights and responsibilities of the individual.

The Joint Commission’s standards are developed with input from healthcare experts, providers, patients, and scientific literature to ensure they represent best practices across the care continuum. The survey process included in-depth reviews, onsite observations, and staff interviews.

“This reaccreditation is more than a recognition — it’s a reflection of the unwavering commitment our staff demonstrates each and every day,” said Wajeeh Sana, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Oswego Health. “It takes exceptional teamwork, clinical excellence, and a relentless focus on our patients and community to earn this recognition. I am incredibly proud of our team for rising to that challenge and continuing to deliver the highest standard of care, close to home.”

“As a healthcare accreditor, The Joint Commission works with healthcare organizations across care settings to inspire safer and higher quality of care that is more equitable and compassionate,” said Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and Chief Nursing Officer, The Joint Commission. “We commend Oswego Health for its commitment to advance safety, quality, equity, and compassion for all patients.”

Oswego Health remains committed to its mission of providing accessible, high-quality care that meets the needs of the Central New York community. The Joint Commission’s reaccreditation reinforces that commitment and celebrates the professionals at Oswego Health who make it possible.
