MEXICO – At about 11:05 a.m. Monday (Nov. 13), sheriff’s deputies arrested Rayburn S. Stewart, 54, of 876 French St., Parish.
He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor; and third-degree criminal tampering, a class B misdemeanor.
The arrest stems from the investigation into an incident that occurred in the town of Mexico.
He allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at the victim, then shot off a round into the residence and released air from the victim’s vehicle tires so they couldn’t leave.
Mr. Stewart was arraigned in Oswego County Court by Hon. Judge James Eby.
He was remanded to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.
Mr. Stewart is slated to return to Mexico Town Court today (Nov. 14).
