Phoenix Man Dies In Clay Car Crash

CLAY, NY – Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh reports that the sheriff’s office investigation regarding last night’s (Aug. 11) fatal crash is continuing.

At about 8:55 p.m., a 1998 Audi was traveling southwest on Bonstead Road near the Route 481 overpass in the town of Clay.

The vehicle, operated by Glenwood Carr, 42, of Baldwinsville, reportedly drove off of the west side of the road, struck a utility pole and overturned several times prior to coming to rest on its roof.

The passenger of the vehicle, Steven Sears, 40, of Phoenix, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Carr allegedly told a witness at the scene that he was drunk and could not have another DWI.

Carr fled on foot from the scene of the accident, according to the police report.
