OSWEGO, NY – On Thursday (March 5), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI responded to 1002 Laurel St., Elmira, where Joshua Paul Vandegrift was located.
Vandegrift was later charged at the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office with two counts of second-degree disseminating indecent material to minors and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arraigned in Scriba Town Court by Judge Atkins and remanded to Oswego County Jail in lieu of $20,000 or $40,000 bond.
The charges stem from the collaborative investigation beginning on Jan. 6, as the result of communications occurring over Facebook with the victim, who he knew to be a 12-year-old girl residing in the town of West Monroe, according to police.
The communications, which reportedly occurred between October 2014 and December 2014, included sexually explicit photos and videos of Vandegrift, police said.
The investigations are ongoing and if anyone has information regarding Vandegrift, they are asked to contact Oswego County Sheriff’s Office at 349-3411.
