Police: Fulton Woman Charged After Attack On Home Health Care Worker


FULTON, NY – On Friday January 16, at about 2:30 p.m., Fulton Police were dispatched to an assault in progress at 306 W. Broadway.

Upon arrival, a home health aide at the location reported that she had been punched repeatedly, pushed down and choked by June M. Atkins, who was still on scene.

Atkins, 48, of County Route 10 in Pennellville, had also forcibly taken the victim’s cellular phone when she attempted to call 911 for emergency assistance, police said.

The victim suffered a one-inch laceration near her left eye as well as bruising around her face, arms, and neck.

The victim was transported by Menter’s Ambulance to Oswego Hospital, where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries and released.

The victim, whose name has not been released, is an employee of Home Aides of Central New York, a Syracuse-based service organization.

Atkins was charged with the following offenses:

Robbery 3rd degree – class D felony
Assault 3rd degree – class A misdemeanor
Criminal Obstruction of Breathing – class A misdemeanor
Unlawful Imprisonment – class A misdemeanor
Criminal Mischief 4th degree – class A misdemeanor

Atkins was arraigned by the Hon. Judge Hawthorne in Fulton City Court.

She was remanded to the Oswego County Public Safety Center on $5,000 cash/bond.
