CLAY, NY – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday at approximately 5 p.m., a 36-year-old Oswego County woman was attempting to make a right turn onto John Glenn Blvd from northbound Oswego Road when her vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection.
When the female driver attempted to get out of her vehicle to check on the male pedestrian, he allegedly forced her door shut and proceeded to jump in the back seat of her vehicle, police said today (May 13).
Once inside the vehicle, the male claimed he was armed with a weapon, demanded money and forced her to drive him to a nearby apartment complex parking lot where he proceeded to sexually assault her, according to the police report.
The male fled on foot in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money.
The female victim immediately called 911 and drove to the Glenn Crossing Mall where she met with responding deputies.
A description of the male suspect was obtained and a search of the area was conducted.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene and began interviewing witnesses who called 911 after observing the accident.
After an intense investigation, detectives developed a suspect and subsequently located him at his residence.
Detectives charged 19-year-old Prince Royal-Clanton of 10 Cedar Circle, Liverpool.
He was charged with kidnapping in the 2nd degree, robbery in the 1st degree and criminal sex act in the 1st degree.
He was arraigned in the Town of Cicero Court before Judge DeMarche who set bail at $75,000 cash $150,000 bond.
