Oswego County Sheriff’s Office 07/28/2008

On 7/24/08, Lloyd H. Coffey, 46, of 36 Coho Lane, Altmar, NY, was arrested for Harassment, Second Degree, a violation. The arrest stems from an incident during which he reportedly entered a Town of Redfield home without permission, knocked on a bedroom door, entered, and began striking a male victim while engaging in an argument. He also allegedly verbally threatened to shoot the victim with a gun. Mr. Coffey was arraigned before the Hon. Richard Roser, Town of Orwell Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250 cash bail or bond. He is scheduled to appear before Town of Redfield Court to answer the charges on 8/20/08.

On 7/25/08 at 8:00 a.m., Jerome M. Ashby, 22, of 126 Columbia Ave., Syracuse, NY, was arrested for Criminal Contempt, First Degree, a class E felony, stemming from the investigation into a complaint filed on 7/20/08 that he has sent threatening text messages to a victim residing in the Village of Pulaski and who was named in an Order of Protection. Mr. Ashby was arraigned before Village of Central Square Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bail bond. He is scheduled to answer the charge before Village of Pulaski Court on 8/06/08.

On 7/25/08, a 15 year old male residing in the Town of Hastings was issued Juvenile Appearance Tickets for acts, which if committed by an adult, would constitute the crimes of Criminal Sex Act, First Degree, a class B felony, Attempted Criminal Sex Act, First Degree, a class C felony, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor. The youth is accused of having sexual contact with a child under the age of 11 while at a Town of Hastings address and attempting to have sexual contact with another child under the age of 11 at the same address, acts that took place during 2006 and 2007. The youth will appear before Oswego County Family Court at a date to be determined.

On 7/25/08 at 4:48 p.m., Jessica C. Parkhurst, 21, of 3680 SR 49, Central Square, NY, was operating a 1993 Buick southbound on CR 10 in the Town of Schroeppel when the vehicle she was driving was struck from behind by a southbound 2006 Chrysler suburban driven by Jeremy M. Snyder, 21, of B7 Bradshaw Road, Central Square, NY. The incident occurred 1/10 of a mile south of the Oneida River Road while Ms. Parkhurst was stopped, waiting to turn left. Ms. Parkhurst and her passengers, Janet Reite, 18, and Trisha clement, 19, were transported by ambulance to A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton. Mr. Snyder was ticketed for Following Too Closely.

On 7/25/08 at 6:45 p.m., David J. Roberts, 24, of 533 ½ Hickock Ave., Syracuse, NY, was arrested at the Onondaga County Public Safety Building based on an Oswego County Family Court Warrant issued 7/22/08, charging him with violating Article 6 of the Family Court Act. Mr. Roberts was arraigned before the Hon. Luther Dennison, Town of Hannibal Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or bond. He is scheduled to appear before Oswego County Family Court on 7/28/08.

On 7/25/08 at 11:00 p.m., Joshua C. Shue, 26, of 1800 SR 48, Fulton, NY, was arrested for reckless driving following a traffic stop on State Route 48 in the City of Fulton. Mr. Shue was issued appearance tickets for Reckless Driving, Drove to Left of No Passing Zone, Driving Out of Class, Speed in Zone, and Speed Over the Speed Limit of 55. Mr. Shue was first observed operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed while traveling northbound on SR 48 in the Town of Granby. He failed to stop for activated lights and sirens until he reached the Fulton City Limits, observed passing two vehicles in a no passing zone near Wilbur Drive. Mr. Shue is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Granby Court on 8/11/08.

On 7/25/08 at 11:39 p.m., Jessica R. Herrmann, 21, of 9160 Prine Rd., Baldwinsville, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving With .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol, and Speeding Over the State Speed Limit of 55, following a traffic stop on SR 481 south in the Town of Volney. Ms. Herrmann was released on tickets returnable to Town of Volney Court on 8/11/08.

On 7/26/08 at 2:12 a.m., Leonard A. Vannelli, 20, of 108 Kaymar Dr., North Syracuse, NY, was ticketed for Speeding Over the State Speed Limit of 55 following a traffic stop on SR 481 in the Town of Scriba. Mr. Vannelli was arraigned before the Hon. Kenneth Adkins, Town of Scriba Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250 cash bail or bond. He is scheduled to return to court on 7/31/08 to answer the charge.

On 7/26/08 at 11:20 p.m., Stephen C. Thorn, 28, of 2279 CR 37, Central Square, NY, was detained by a member of the Central Square Police Department and turned over to an Oswego County Sheriff’s Deputy who arrested Mr. Thorn based on a bench warrant issued by Oswego County Court charging him with Criminal Mischief, Third Degree, a class E felony. Mr. Thorn was transported to the Oswego County Correctional Facility where he will remain without bail pending a court appearance in Oswego County Court on 7/28/08.

On 7/26/08 at 11:23 p.m., Jason A. Roberts, 27, of 80 Phillips Road, Oswego, NY, was ticketed for Operation While Registration Suspended (insurance lapse on 7/10/08) and Inadequate Headlights, following a traffic stop at SR 48 and CR 8 in the Town of Minetto. Mr. Roberts was released on tickets returnable to Town of Minetto Court on 8/21/08.

On 7/27/08 at 12:01 a.m., a truck traveling westbound on SR 3 in the Town of Hannibal was observed crossing the fog line while reentering its lane after passing a patrol unit. A subsequent traffic stop on Muck Drive led to the arrest of Gregorio M. Guevara, 44, of 1356 CR 3, Hannibal, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving With .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol, Crossing Hazardous Road Markings, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor (a child under the age of 17 was in the vehicle at the tiem). Mr. Guevara was released on tickets to a third party and is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Hannibal Court on 8/05/08.

On 7/27/08 at approximately 8:22 p.m., a member of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a reported drowning at Pine Grove Beach in the Town of Richland. Upon arrival, a member of the NYS Parks Police and a neighbor were observed administering CPR to the victim who was laying at the edge of the water. The victim, identified as John W. Bentley, 56, of 104 Oakwood Avenue, Elmira Heights, NY, was subsequently transported by ambulance to the Oswego Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Bentley had reportedly gone swimming alone about 20 minutes before being discovered floating in the water. The investigation into the drowning continues at this time.
